Andrew Poku Forson, the father of Ghanaian female swimmer Kaya Forson, has rubbished claims by swimmer Ophelia Swayne that he paid a bribe to ensure that his daughter was picked in place of her for the Rio Olympics.

Ophelia took to Twitter to accuse the Ghana Swimming Association of taking bribes from Mr Forson.
The 14-year-old swimmer who will represent Ghana with Abeiku Jackson holds the Ghana national record of 31.5 seconds in the 50-metre freestyle and 1.04.52 minutes in the 100-meter freestyle event.
Speaking to Starr Sports from his base in Spain, Mr Forson insisted his daughter worked tirelessly for the spot.
“I will never ever pay a bribe to somebody to get what I want that will never happen and it never happened in the case of the swimming event either,” he noted.
“What Ophelia doesn't know is the GOC and the GSA had made it incredibly difficult for Kaya to compete in Kazan for Rio.
“I like Ophelia I have never met her before but I like how aggressive she is and what she can do. This is sports and it’s a time sport and not a baily dance so the best person should go,” Mr. Forson added.
